ABOUT US

Who We Are

Mission: We believe each student is unique and will be educated to accept service as a way of life, to be sensitive to the needs of people in the home and society.
Philosophy: The principles of Seventh-day Adventist education are founded upon God's Word. Christian education is grounded on the principle of God as Creator and human begins as the masterpiece of His creation, possessing minds, capable of grasping spiritual and intellectual truths. Adventist education provides an atmosphere of learning that is conductive to the optimum development of the complete student.

Seventh-day Adventist education place high estimate on the infinite worth of every individual and seeks to provide a climate in which a positive self-image may be developed. A knowledge and acceptance of God's plan for our redemption is of first importance in the school experience. Students are given opportunities to accept Jesus as their personal Savior.

How We Got Here

Picture
The original Piqua Seventh-day Adventist Christian School first opened in September 1976 as a one-room school inside the Piqua Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Lillian Reicher bequeathed 20 acres to the Piqua SDA Church in October 1992. The land was sold with the assistance of Pastor Dave Hutman and invested until a decision could be reached regarding the best use of the funds.

Groundbreaking for our current school building occurred on March 26, 2001. Our motto while building the school: Buildings do not educate children, nor bring people to Jesus. However, every mechanic and cook knows the advantage of working with good tools. Our new building is designed to be a tool for education and evangelism.

The students gathered in the new facility t
wenty-five years after the school was founded and gave God the glory for providing and sustaining our education ministry. Today, we continue to give God glory for continuing our mission to the present day.

Our school's focus remains to equip the children of our community with the knowledge and love of Jesus. Christ. We embrace Biblical truth which informs and grounds our mission; that the love of Jesus impacts both character and lifestyle and is subsequently shared with others in benefits to the wider community.

SMALLER IS SMARTER

7 PILLARS OF SMALL SCHOOL SUCCESS

"In A Place Called Schools, John Godland (1984) concluded that the burden of proof is on large size. Data from a study he conducted demonstrated that the smallest schools were better at solving their problems, more intellectually oriented, and had more caring teachers and greater...satisfaction."
-Carol L. Myers, former Superintendent

LOWER STUDENT-TEACHER RATIO

More individualized attention
and instruction allows for teachers to know a student's work and the way he or she thinks. Teachers recognize and adapt to each child’s different developmental levels in various subjects.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

Comparing academic success on a national scale, more small school students attend college; standardized test scores are above the national average.

FAMILY ATMOSPHERE

Small schools provide a family atmosphere. In multi-age classes, students learn about each other's differences. As the age span widens, competition and stress decrease, resulting in children becoming more accepting of others' abilities. In addition, more parents get involved in small schools - having a voice in curriculum, volunteering, and joining the school board.

CURRICULUM

Small Adventist schools like PACS use a curriculum specifically designed for multi-grade classrooms. The North American Division Office of Education has developed high quality, up-to-date curriculum materials for multi-grade classrooms. Custom-tailored education leads to faster educational growth.

ACCOUNTABILITY

In small schools there is more accountability by teachers to parents, supervisors, and most of all, students

SOCIAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

The wider the age span, the less competition there is and the more natural and realistic students are about themselves and others. Several studies have found that multi-grade classrooms improve personal and social development, improve attitudes toward school, and help students become more cooperative and less competitive.

CHRISTIAN CHARACTER BUILDING

Seventh-day Adventist schools focus on Christ-like character building. The low student-teacher ratio allows teachers to share Jesus with students on a more personal level. Utilizing the advantage of flexible scheduling, teachers can easily lead students to live out their Christian character through community service and outreach projects.
